An agreement on the purchase of electricity for the construction of a 1 GW wind farm in Zhambyl region was signed

In Astana, on June 9, 2023, within the framework of a Special agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the French Republic "On the implementation of cooperation in the field of combating global warming", in the presence of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliyev, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TotalEnergies Mr. Patrick Pouyanné  an electricity purchase agreement was signed between Settlement and Financial Center LLP on RES" and "Aktas Energy" LLP.

The next step in bilateral relations is the ratification of the Agreement in the Parliament of Kazakhstan. This event lays a solid foundation for strengthening and further development of French-Kazakh investment cooperation. In accordance with the signed agreement, LLP "Settlement and Financial Center for Renewable Energy" intends to buy and accept from LLP "Aktas Energy" (joint Project company TotalEren, JSC "Samruk-Kazyna" and JSC "NC KazMunayGas") electric energy generated by a wind power plant with a capacity of 1000 MW.

The uniqueness of the WPP project lies in the fact that for the first time in Kazakhstan, a wind farm will be supplemented with an electricity storage system.

On November 30, 2022, in the presence of the Head of State, a special agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the French Republic "On the implementation of cooperation in the field of combating global warming".

The Special Agreement is aimed at strengthening long-term bilateral cooperation between the Republics in the field of energy and applies to major projects implemented on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of renewable energy sources and green technologies.

One of such major projects planned for implementation under the Agreement will be the construction of a 1 GW wind power plant with an energy storage system with a capacity of 300/600 MW in Zhambyl region (Mirny settlement).

The partners of "Aktas Energy" LLP from the French side are Total Eren S.A with a share of 60%, from the Kazakh side - JSC "Samruk-Kazyna" and JSC "NC KazMunayGas" 20% each.

The Project capacity exceeds 40% of the total volume of all renewable energy facilities put into operation in the country today, which will significantly bring Kazakhstan closer to achieving the goal of increasing the share of renewable energy to 15% by 2030.
